The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of dysfunctional beliefs and emotional regulation on the relationship between adolescents¡¯ attachment to parents and borderline personality disorder traits. The subjects of this study were 344 high school students. The Korea Inventory of Parents Attachment, the Dysfunctional Beliefs Scale, Emotional Regulation Scale, and Borderline Personality Disorder Scale were used as measurements. Collected data were analysed using structural equation modeling. The results of the study were as follows. First, adolescents¡¯ attachment to parents had a direct effect on borderline personality disorder traits, dysfunctional beliefs and emotional regulation. Second, results indicated a partial mediating effect of dysfunctional beliefs on the relationship between adolescents¡¯ attachment to parents and borderline personality disorder traits. Third, results indicated a partial mediating effect of emotional regulation on the relationship between adolescents¡¯ attachment to parents and borderline personality disorder traits. These findings indicated that adolescents¡¯ attachment to parents, dysfunctional beliefs and emotional regulation need to be taken into account for effective intervention in borderline personality disorder traits.
